Learn about the history of the Schotten and their origins. Presented by Dr Diarmuid Ó Ríain, a qualified scholar on the Schotten, their lives and role in medieval Austrian Society. Diarmuid will astound you with all the facts in this riveting presentation. Afterwards you are welcome to join us on a guided tour of the ancient Schottenstift.

Host to the Schottenfest main events for the past two years, this jewel in Vienna’s crown is the perfect setting for three of Ireland’s finest singer songwriters - MUNDY, DAVID KEENAN & EMMA LANGFORD.  We are honoured to have these amazing acts grace the stage, following in the footsteps of past headliners.

A brand new addition to Schottenfest and set in the historical Freyung of the Schottenstift - our Special Sunday event offers something very unique. Two incredible events from Ireland and Scotland. 

14:00 - IRISH ROOTS
Presented by Danaí Kelleher & Antonia NÍ Norica. Both versed in the Irish tradition of music and song you will be taken on an entertaining and funny trip through the Irish singing and music tradition, touching on the story of Schottenstift as they go. With special guests. 

15:00 SINGER SONGWRITER SUNDAY
With Stuart Neville and Ray Heffernan. 

From Scotland - Stuart Neville is a fantastic songwriter and has been wooing the masses with his smoked whisky tones, thought provoking lyrics and melodies that sit and will enchant all souls in this amazing space. 

Ray Heffernan
will follow on to grace us with the craft that is the Irish songwriter. Responsible for the Robbie Williams hit “Angel”, Ray has a lot more tricks up his sleeve. You’ll be taken on the most scenic and melodic journeys with this Dublin bard. Ray may well be joined on stage by some very special guests of the festival. You’ll need to come and visit to find out.
